Original wood flooring and seats in the auditorium were carefully refurbished and re-installed in this San Antonio school by the Districts Plant Services crews. The stage and walls were also repainted. "Not only do we have new things that we are excited about but were also honoring a lot of the history of this school," said Melanie Herr-Zepeda, principal. Colors, tiles and wall textures throughout the campus express the African-American and Mexican-American cultures of the neighborhood surrounding this San Antonio school. "This school is truly rich in history. Were honoring the neighborhood in what it is now and yet honoring where this school has come from," Herr-Zepeda added.

We end with an "anxiety check." The kids tell me they feel more comfortable now and that maybe puberty class isnt so bad after all. Some even say its pretty cool. Day 2 We split the class into gender groups and meet with each separately. What happens next is always amazing to witness and its consistent. A portion of our time is spent talking about periods for the girls and erections and ejaculation for the boys. Even the kids who were obviously uncomfortable on Day 1 are interested and engaged. The kids ask great questions and eagerly listen to the answers. Once their curiosity about their own bodies is satisfied, they begin asking more specific questions about the changes that the opposite gender goes through.

But enough with the games, lets talk some serious stuff. If you want to learn math, do a project like decorating a room. Do the whole works from calculating the paint or wallpaper, to calculating the material and sewing the drapes, to ordering and positioning the furniture. Design a new cabinet layout for your kitchen, including calculating cabinet dimensions, appliance positioning and project costs. Try building something like a drop desk or a play ground swing set, or a go-cart. How about doing a baking or sewing/quilting project? Do all the preparations for a dinner party, including the planning, shopping, seating arrangement, cooking, etc. Try paper trading some stock and track them for a year. Start an eBay business. Wow! Wouldnt that be something, having your childs math project turn into a home-based business that pays for your childs college education? Its possible and its real life.

Knowing that the 6th grade math curriculum is based on essential math concepts such as arithmetic and data analysis, measurement, geometry, probability amongst other things, having access to math worksheets which are also accompanied by other interactive activities like learning games, assessments and reinforcement can make learning 6th grade math a lot more fun than learning by rote. Instead of learning a topic and then doing lots of mathematical examples, based on what you have just learned, teachers have found that the use of interactive activities, learning games, printable worksheets, assessments, and reinforcement. the math curriculum should rely on many learning tools - lessons with activities, worksheets, reinforcement exercises, and assessments will help a student to learn each math topic in a variety of ways and this should help supplement the teaching in class.

After 8 pm, she asked me to escort her to the local hospitals labor ward, where by midnight she gave birth to a son. I never saw my mother idle.

New School Yet to be Named San Antonio Independent School District Trustees and District leaders join students from Foster and Schenck elementary schools in breaking ground Sept. 21 for SAISDs newest campus, which is located in the 9200 block of South Presa Street. The new academy, which is the first school established by the District in 40 years, will serve the educational needs of a growing student population in the Southeast sector of SAISD. The planned two-story academy--yet to be named--will accommodate 750 students in pre-kindergarten through 8th grade at the 18-acre site. The building will have an exterior design reminiscent of the nearby historic missions. Early grades at this San Antonio school will have elementary-level playgrounds and learning spaces equipped for instruction, physical education and music. Upper grade classrooms will include an art room, science labs, and two music rooms with acoustical areas for band, choir, orchestra or mariachi.
