About eight years ago, I was in my New York City apartment one Saturday morning, thinking about all the people in my life who made a difference. There were many, but my fifth grade teachers face swam into focus. The image of her powerful smile was crystal clear. As soon as I saw her in my minds eye, my attention immediately focused on a way to thank her. I got quiet and reflected on this. A few moments later an idea was born. Why not thank her on a national talk show? What could be better than that? The idea was so strong, so powerful and whats more it felt right. After firing off a letter to six national talk shows, I kept it to myself and waited. Ideas should be allowed to percolate and develop in secret before they are shared with the rest of the world. There is a time and place for everything, so I prayed that if it was meant to be, then Mrs. Jordan would be presented with a big surprise at just the right time.
The 5th grade level is where students begin to understand more about how words can paint a picture. Instead of "the tree had many colorful leaves", they now read "the tree was overflowing with fiery warmth of the colors from the sun - red, orange and yellow burst forth." This is exactly where you need to take your marketing material. Paint a picture for your reader; bring them in to what you want them to know by entering their minds and painting pictures on their brains. Think of your writing like "graffiti for the mind." By painting with words rather than dazzling with brilliance you will appeal to a much larger audience, enhance your message and add more to your bottom line. Create wording that glides down a mountain like a bright red sled sifting through the fresh snow at breath taking speed - words that can be understood and be "seen/scene". You will want to practice as many of these academic organizational skills as you can with your child as 5th grade comes to an end. Also it is very important to set up situations with your child over the summer to practice these skills, even though s/he is not actually in school. First, keeping track of your belongings should be a habit that is worked on daily. Second is the skill of getting places on time. Many parents miss the wonderful opportunity of using the summer as a learning and practice time for these critical organizational skills. You do not have the pressure of getting to school every day and activities and getting the homework done in the evenings. If your child even partially masters just these two skills, it will go a long way toward smoothing the path into 6th grade. Another important skill is getting papers and books from school to hoe and back to school. You will want to have a great working system for handling this challenge.
There are many health benefits of silica, like lower blood pressure and lower cholesterol. These are two of the most common problems that are caused by modern life and everyone who has used diatomaceous earth has reported a serious decrease in both cholesterol levels and blood pressure levels. It has been surprising both the users and their doctors. No wonder this product is in such high demands. Silica is also a very important for healthy bones and a tough bone structure. Those who complain from joint pains have received wonderful results by using diatomaceous earth. Many do not know that calcium supplements alone cannot do anything when it comes to joint pain in old age. You need silica to kick-start the bodys self-healing mechanism. Even osteoporosis patients have received good results by using diatomaceous earth.
You may be wondering why should you go about teaching your baby to read. After all, dont they learn to read in school? Yes, most children learn to read in school, although many struggle with reading, which sets them back in other subjects. Children that struggle with reading in third grade are reported to never catch up. Many high school graduates cannot even read past a 5th grade reading level. Newspapers are written on a 6th grade reading level because there are millions of people that cannot read past that level. By investing a few short minutes a day in teaching your baby to read, you can avoid having your child be one of these statistics. When you measure the time it takes to teach your baby to read against the benefits to your child, it is really minimal. And besides that, teaching your baby to read is so fun!
It is said that the average newspaper is written on a 5th grade level and that the average online reader is at that or below. There is common misconception about this belief and why it is so. This doesnt mean that only 5th graders are using the Internet or that everyone reading online content is uneducated. Instead, it refers to the state of mind that the average reader is in when they are using the Internet. The Internet is now something we turn to in a hurry when we need to find info fast. Even if you are just browsing around, there is so much to see that it is easy to get distracted, caught up or swept away from one site to another and another and... so on.
