Teaching babies to read will give them a strong start in life and open up many opportunities for your child. Imagine what awaits a child who starts Kindergarten reading on a 5th or 6th grade reading level, or higher! When children are taught to read as babies they learn to read in a more efficient manner, since this is the natural period of language development. They are better readers. They comprehend the material at a deeper level than people taught to read by rules at a later time. They are also able to read faster. Parents of early readers report that their children can read through thick books at an incredible rate.
Understanding of elements of energy such as heat: This is a project that is designed to help a child to understand the various forms of energy. A good example is to determine how much heat is required to heat a very cold or hot bean. Place the bean seed in the deep freezer for 10 hours, another bean seed in the refrigerator, another under room temperature and another pre-heated for 2 hours. Cook all the seeds in a microwave for about 5 minutes and determine their levels hardness. The one that remains harder would be because it needs more heat to cook it. Therefore energy is transferred from one form to another.
The final stage of the learning model is wisdom. Wisdom comes from dialogue, demonstration, experience, and experimentation. For example, after making a dish a few times, I may decide to try altering the recipe by adding another spice or using different vegetables in the dish than are called for in the recipe. When I try these experiments, I learn what works and doesnt work for me, and that becomes my personal wisdom. Much of what it taught to young children never goes beyond Stage 1 of the model - data. They may find, for example, that the history of Native American tribes is interesting, but for most students the subject matter is neither relevant to their lives, nor does it have a purpose. In elementary and high school, these data are prescribed by the school system according to set curricula or what will be asked on tests. As adults, we self-direct our learning. Even if our employer requires us to take a course on some subject, we filter what is being taught for relevance and purpose in order to transform the data into information. When we apply what we have learned to our work or our lives, we transform it into personal knowledge. And as we gain experience in using our knowledge and skills, we may develop some personal wisdom around what works and what doesnt work for us in specific situations.
It is said that the average newspaper is written on a 5th grade level and that the average online reader is at that or below. There is common misconception about this belief and why it is so. This doesnt mean that only 5th graders are using the Internet or that everyone reading online content is uneducated. Instead, it refers to the state of mind that the average reader is in when they are using the Internet. The Internet is now something we turn to in a hurry when we need to find info fast. Even if you are just browsing around, there is so much to see that it is easy to get distracted, caught up or swept away from one site to another and another and... so on.
For example, in an experiment where the growth of Venus flytraps are studied, the process can be simplified by confining the variables to just a few number, the hypothesis to just one, and the data collection period to just a few days time. Thus, only the variable of types of feed is changed, only one hypothesis is made in that the one fed the crickets will grow the fastest because of the protein content, and the period is limited to just 2 weeks instead of 3 weeks. With 5th grade science fair projects, you can encourage your child to seek more answers to his questions simply because the materials and equipment used are easy to use and the processes adopted are easy to follow.
Your distinct sense of reality was formed during and because of, the flitting episodes of ideal ambitions. You were king and queen for a day and believed you could do anything you wanted, in whatever way you wanted. It was throughout this infallible phase that many dammed up creative energies were discharged, exchanged and enjoyed. The curious wisdom you gained, expended and engaged in was without limit or barrier. Your indelible sense of humor was spun from the wheel of intricate events {be they pleasant or no} fashioned at this time. What was going on in your family? The bed of your empathetic nature was carefully made with clean fresh sheets. You were able to see more than what was taking place; you transcended the mundane.
