Parents and guardians, and whoever is in charge will also enjoy themselves by having fun, even as they lend a hand to their second graders in the areas of writing reading, math, spelling and even science, by using the educational software and computer games for kids. This software is personalized to make a second grader build an entire year of skills. Being a 2 CD-ROM Set that boasts of a Learning Center disc that is personalized, a parent is able to see every participants progress on any given program which is using the Companys A.D.A.P.T. Helping your student practice their 2nd grade spelling words is not only necessary, it can help them become better readers. Also, knowing words on sight can build confidence as your child is required to write more. Lastly, getting 100% on a spelling test can make your child feel pretty special so make sure you post those grades on the refrigerator for some positive reinforcement. Tip #1 - Read. Reading to your child or having them read to you is by far one of the best ways for your child to become better at spelling. They become familiar with the words and the intricacies of the English language. Let you child pick books of interest from the public library, the school library or purchase grade level appropriate books. Many books have grade levels on the front cover which makes it easy for parents to know which books will be right for their child.
Experiments in Education As a relatively new teacher, I sense the entire education system has been and will continue to be going through various experiments in the coming decade particularly in poor urban neighborhoods. A classmate of mine just started working at an elementary school with a new experimental model - class size, 60; number of teachers, 4 Lessons are taught to every kindergartner and 1st grader in three different languages and the teachers dont get any breaks. Oh, and the master teacher on each grade level makes six figures but hasnt been in the system 22 years. I welcome the change and admire educators like my friend and classmate who are willing to go for it, while kidding themselves about the potential to fail. As I left his class, I couldnt help but wonder if they will learn any better, being comfortable. They may be less likely to cut the class but algebra on a couch with nature sounds playing in the background is still algebra. We have to be careful not to forget that people have been working on the issue of improving public education since public education has been around and that we dont need to create everything from scratch. On the other hand, to see significant results, we need significant change which may challenge much of what we consider education today.
Why Math Problems Become Apparent Halfway Through The School Year The first question that many parents have when a teacher mentions that a child is struggling with 2nd grade math is why they werent informed sooner. This can be an unfair question, as teachers are rarely aware of weaknesses until theyve had time to work with their students for several months. This is why mid-year math problems are fairly common with 2nd graders. In reality, kids who struggle with math are usually struggling with instruction techniques, which is why differentiated instruction is gaining favor in thousands of United States classrooms. However, it can be hard for both teachers and parents to spot problems and therefore make the appropriate changes. The right tools can make this process easier.
Admittedly the yelling of mean slurs was the most difficult thing of all. It was hard to be sincere and we felt that the rice would somehow know if we were just pretending to hate it. Fortunately, a few days into the experiment, a friend came to visit who had regularly displayed a tendency toward anger management problems. He was able to throw insults with convincing aplomb, so we thankfully delegated this job in order to dispense with any guilty feeling for being so mean ourselves!! Within a few days we were assured of his authenticity when a bottle of beer spontaneously exploded right after he had let loose an angry tirade toward the unfortunate rice - strange happenings were definitely afoot!
A Program Thats Engaging and Exciting Todays technology makes it easy for kids to have fun and learn at the same time. Ideally, youll want a 2nd grade help program that isnt tedious or boring - but rather one which gets your child excited about learning. Second grade is a time where children learn to read with expression, or delve into new concepts in math like subtraction and "borrowing" numbers. Everything your child learns in the second grade will act as a foundation in the next grade and beyond - so its important that they understand these core concepts as they progress through school. The right 2nd grade help program will teach them the basics, in an environment thats fun, approachable and rewarding.
