Fencing is already a sport associated with intellectualism, often called "physical chess" by coaches, fencers, and fans. Participation in the this sport requires fitness and concentration, a powerhouse duo when it comes to increasing brainpower. The study presented at the ACSM Meeting found that among 266 undergraduates, those who exercised vigorously for at least 20 minutes per day had higher grade point averages than those who did not. This isnt the only study showing that physical fitness is linked to greater success in school, and the effect is not limited to college students. Dr. Charles H. Hillman, an Associate Professor at the University of Illinois found that among 259 Illinois 3rd and 5th graders, those in the best physical shape also scored highest on math and reading in standardized testing. For instance, grouping words with "qs" in them may help the child remember that the letter is always followed with "u." Also, breaking up larger words can help a child see how easy it is to spell. Finding ways to study over time is another way to learn 3rd grade spelling words. Letting the child practice the words without pressure can be a good way to help him or her get used to the words. Along with studying throughout the week, the child should also study the night before the test in order to keep the information fresh in his or her mind the next day. The child may be more committed to learning the day before and may just get the needed boost to commit the words to memory.
Everyone knows by the time theyre in 3rd grade that its teachers pet who has the honor of cleaning the erasers, wiping down the blackboard, and replacing stubs with fresh, long white pieces of chock that felt amazingly smooth as your fingers slid lightly over their cool hardness as you placed them neatly in the chock tray. In his article, this brand new teacher--straight out of college--was hired by a school district to teach 3rd grade math. I cant remember whether he wrote the article in September or October (one of the facts I wanted to check), but the point is that it was very early in the school year. He had already run into some problems: his students didnt understand anything they were being taught and their parents were all mad. He decided that the problem was the textbook and its approach, so he made a unilateral decision (no discussion with the department head or Principal) to stop using the district-chosen series and, instead, teach his 3rd grade students the way he thought they should be taught. And not only that, but he was so proud of his decision that he put it on the internet. No discussion with his Principal, but he writes about it on the internet. The arrogance of youth!

Practice is especially important during the holidays, the summer and during other breaks in a childs school year.
If encouraged from a young age, children will naturally find ways and means to experiment with questions that interest them. A science fair project will always be well performed if the child is interested in the topic. There are also different ways of doing 3rd grade science fair projects. By experiment or investigation is the most common type of project. An example of this type of project would be if frozen candles burn as well as candles at room temperature. This is a wonderful way for children to learn, because they are able to actually see how things, exposed to various elements, cause different reactions. A child could demonstrate his 3rd grade science fair project by re-testing experiments that have already been done. The child could even do additional experimentation to make the project more interesting. A project could also involve research where the relevant information is collected and the answer to the question is presented.
